Agendas, Minutes and Basic Meeting Protocol - Committee Servicing Levels 1 - 2

Target audience: Employees that are required to provide committee administrative and secretarial support
Materials: All participants will need to bring an A4 notepad and pens.

This course is of particular interest for employees that are required to provide committee administrative and secretarial support to the University's governance and executive management committees (including executive standing and sub-committees, faculty board committees, and faculty and school advisory committees).

The aim of the workshop is to develop, within the specific USQ formal and semi-formal context, skills and confidence in the area of committee/meeting secretary duties.

At the conclusion of the course participants will be able to:

  • Understand the basic principles of meeting protocol
  • Prepare a comprehensive and meaningful agenda
  • Take effective and useful notes during a meeting
  • Write up these notes into clear, concise and coherent minutes
  • Effectively carry out post-meeting actions.

This interactive workshop addresses the basic requirements for any employee who performs committee/meeting secretary duties.  The workshop is facilitator led, and will include group work and individual practical, hands-on sessions where video footage of a real USQ meeting is used.
